Thyroid disorders are more common in women than men. The most widely known thyroid function disorders are underactive thyroid or hypothyroidism, in which case the body produces too few thyroid hormones, and overactive thyroid or hyperthyroidism, in which case the body produces too many thyroid hormones.
The Thyroid panel is recommended in case of a suspected under- or overactive thyroid.
